Knows everything, great to chat with
Tatsuya was always available and willing to explain and re-explain untill I was able to understand. He was helpful in particularly difficult subjects when I went to see him.
Tatsuya was always on top of it and made sure the class ran smoothly. This included OHs, grading homeworks, making sure slides/ necessary documents were on the Canvas page for students, etc. He would even clean the white boards after class, which shows me he's very detail oriented and diligent. I'm grateful we had him as a TA!
Tatsuya Aoyama was extremely dedicated, knowledgeable, and responsive throughout the course. He consistently replied to emails with clear, detailed explanations—often very quickly—which made a huge difference when I needed clarification or help outside of class. He is great at debugging code and provided thorough, thoughtful feedback on all of our R assignments. His presence in the classroom was both helpful and encouraging, and I always appreciated his cheerful and professional demeanor.

My only real suggestion is more about student interaction than teaching ability: because Tatsuya is so knowledgeable, it can sometimes feel a little intimidating to approach him with very basic or beginner-level questions. I know this is more about my own learning style, but as someone who often needs to review and revisit concepts multiple times before they stick, I sometimes hesitated to ask for help in-person. Perhaps creating more structured, low-pressure opportunities for students to ask clarifying questions—like brief review sessions or “common questions” summaries—could help others like me feel more confident about reaching out. That said, Tatsuya was always friendly and supportive and elevated student confusion/concerns to Professor Zeldes in a timely manner, and I truly wish I had taken more advantage of his expertise during the semester.
